What is the difference between translation and interpretation?

In translation, a set of written words are transformed from one language to another. The ‘translated text’ and the ‘original text’ communicate the same message. In interpretation, a set of spoken words are converted from one language to another. Interpretation is used to communicate between people who do not speak the same language. Interpretation services are largely used by corporations, institutions, or organizations to ease their business communications.
